An award-winning Community Interest Company has opened a new coffee shop as part of its mission to provide meaningful support and opportunities for adults with learning disabilities.
Nickel Support’s new Beans and Bloom coffee shop is located within the historic Whitehall Museum, a Grade II listed timber-framed historic house in Cheam, Surrey.
“This cafe not only provides a fantastic space for the community to gather but also serves as an important step in our ongoing efforts to empower individuals with learning disabilities through meaningful work,” said Nick Walsh, one of the founders and directors of Nickel Support.
Nickel Support also has two centres, where more than 125 adults with learning disabilities attend a variety of sessions, including a number of enterprises such as furniture upcycling, creating items of Jesmonite homeware and cooking their very popular range of jams and chutneys.
All of these items are then sold in their shop and online retail business, Interestingly Different, a beautiful homeware and gift shop, that also provides a platform for retail training and employment opportunities.
The latest exciting venture, Beans and Bloom, was made possible through a partnership with Sutton Council and generous funding from the Bloomfield Trust.
