TUI Opens its First Hotel Sensory Rooms

clive579

International tourism group TUI is to open its first ever hotel sensory rooms this summer.

Designed to support neurodivergent guests and their families the sensory rooms will be available at the TUI BLUE Nausicaa Beach in Larnaca, Cyprus and the TUI BLUE Aura, Ibiza.

Specially designed to provide a calming, low-stimulation environment for guests who may feel overwhelmed by busy or unfamiliar surroundings the sensory rooms enhance TUI’s commitment to accessible travel.

They feature elements such as soft lighting, interactive sensory equipment or quiet zones to encourage relaxation and make holidays more enjoyable for the whole family.

In addition to the new sensory rooms, the two hotels will have enhanced neurodiversity awareness training for all frontline staff.

In the Kids’ Club rooms, TUI is to introduce ‘Now and Next’ boards to allow children to understand the flow of a session and to be clear about what is coming next. The clubs will also introduce revised communication cards that will allow children to clearly communicate their wants and needs with the Kids’ Club hosts.

“TUI is committed to making holidays accessible for all customers, including neurodivergent guests,” said Louise Bates, Director Brands & Product TUI Hotels & Resort.

“Overstimulating environments can be challenging, so we are taking steps to make our hotels more inclusive. These new sensory rooms will provide a calm and comfortable space, helping families enjoy a truly relaxing holiday.

“At TUI BLUE we work hard to create a relaxing and inclusive holiday environment for all types of guests. The introduction of sensory rooms based on insights from our guests and experts in neurodiversity is a great step forward in our evolution. This is just the beginning as we work towards becoming the most neuro-friendly travel company possible.”

The new sensory rooms will be open for summer 2025 and will be able for guests to use throughout their stay.
